Lauren Babson
Information Technology Executive
Lauren Babson is a retired Information Technology Executive with over 30 years of experience aligning enterprise technology strategy with business transformation across retail, manufacturing, higher education, and government sectors. Known for driving innovation at scale, she has led enterprise-wide initiatives that modernized legacy environments, embedded data-driven decision-making, and delivered measurable value through digital, cloud, and AI-powered solutions. A champion of operational excellence and inclusive leadership, Lauren has built high-performing teams and resilient technology ecosystems that support sustainable growth and organizational agility.
Before retiring, Lauren served as Vice President of Information Technology at Mister Car Wash, the largest car wash operator in the U.S., with a multibillion-dollar valuation. There, she led the development of the company’s first omnichannel eCommerce solution, established a comprehensive cybersecurity program, and launched advanced AI initiatives to drive intelligent automation and data-driven insights. Her strategic leadership played a key role in the company’s successful IPO.
Previously, Lauren was Executive Director at the University of Arizona, where she led the transition to a Cloud First strategy, co-founded the Higher Ed Cloud Forum, and co-presented at AWS re:Invent, advancing cloud adoption in higher education. Prior to her work at the University, she led global teams at Rain Bird Corporation, a privately held irrigation manufacturer serving over 130 countries, delivering enterprise solutions across manufacturing, marketing, finance, warehousing, and analytics.
Early in her career, Lauren lived on Andros Island, Bahamas, where she developed mission-critical software for the U.S. Navy’s AUTEC facility, an experience that sparked a deep appreciation for island life and the vibrant culture of the Bahamas.
A recognized advocate for inclusive leadership, Lauren developed programs such as Count Me In, designed to equip women with the confidence, skills, and visibility to grow into leadership roles, and co-founded the IT Leadership Academy, shaping the next generation of technology leaders.
Lauren currently serves on the board of Make Way for Books, a nonprofit focused on early childhood literacy. A recipient of the “Woman of Achievement” Award, she continues to mentor emerging leaders across the tech ecosystem. She lives in Tucson, Arizona, where she treasures time with her family and remains dedicated to making a meaningful impact.
